7th UC Voice Lighthouse validated
Wortell committed itself for the fiscal year 2009 of Microsoft to 7 OCS Voice Lighthouse projects. A Voice Lighthouse is a project in which a customer of Wortell deploys OCS as their primary Voice (Telephone) system within their organization. During the last few months together with Microsoft we worked hard to achieve this goal, which was reached last week.
Nice to know is that we build a firm customer base of clients who are OCS Voice enabled. They all benefit from the benefits which OCS offers as a telephony system. Because OCS Voice Lighthouses are very strict in regards to the technologies we can implement (OCS cannot be virtualized etc) not all of our project counted towards to Voice Lighthouse statement, which means in all we implemented OCS as Voice system with a lot more customers.
We noticed that OCS as a telephony system really hit it off with the 2007 Release 2 version which was released last February.
Microsoft put a demo on their website which offers insight in the features of their entire UC Suite: http://www.microsoft.com/uc/voipasyouare/default.aspx

Congrats!

Hi, I really believe in the power of OCS any news, when it's possible to use in BPOS an voice solution with OCS. At this moment you only can talk with people in your own network or with a VPN connection.

Sorry that's not true. OCS enables you to set up a telephony connection to the PSTN/ISDN (etc) network. This is done either through a SIP enabled PBX or can be done via a Gateway (like Dialogic). Next to that you are able to connect a OCS to a SIP trunk (like Interroute). When one of these options is used you will be able to call into the telephony network from OCS.
